Oscar winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin has adapted his insanely popular romantic fantasy thriller film for a musical. Ghost tells the haunting story of Molly and Sam, who were walking home late one night when Sam was brutally murdered. Sam is trapped between two worlds, and with the help of a storefront psychic he desperately tries to communicate with his beloved wife Molly, who is utterly alone and in grave danger…

In the Hopi language, the word Koyaanisqatsi means “unbalanced life”. This 1982 experimental film, directed by Godfrey Reggio and with stunning cinematography from Ron Fricke (BARAKA), juxtaposes slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and natural landscapes across the United States and is considered to be a cinematic environmental masterpiece which explores mankind’s relationship to nature. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor narration, but is accompanied by an original music score by the renowned American minimalist composer, Phillip Glass.
REBEL SOUL WINTER WIG-OUT

“Rebel soul is politics thinly veiled as entertainment.” After years of running a venue at Shambala Festival, Rebel Soul are bringing their unique blend of politics and party to DINA. During the daytime they will host a series of workshops and debates from the country’s frontline campaigners on hot topics such as fracking, the Mediterranean border, the housing crisis, and a non-binary/ transgender DJ workshop. Teatime will involve some delicious veggie and vegan food, followed by an eclectic line-up of quality music from all over the world to take over the nighttime airwaves, spanning all genres from folk to techno and served up on Barang’s heavyweight soundsystem.
THE WORKING PARTY: QUEERYING QUEERNESS

The Working Party is a new experimental forum (reading group, film club, peer critique) which meets on a monthly basis at Bloc Projects. The meetings, led by artists Richard Stott, Yuen Fong Ling and Damien Fisher, will provide a private but inclusive time and a space for artists and creative people in Sheffield to ask and answer questions through art, writings, films, exhibitions and artefacts. Kick-starting this month off with the topic of queerness (in its expanded definition as something ‘strange’ or ‘peculiar’), Queerying Queerness explores what the word means to different artists and how they address it in their work.
