Festival Llum BCN, Light Festival, Barcelona: Every February
As night falls across the city, Barcelona’s streets, walls, squares and urban spaces are illuminated
Every year on this potentially dull weekend in February, a selection of well known international artists, along with the emerging talent of local art and design students, create a series of immersive light installations and shows. These creative projections change the physiognomy of the city, transforming dull and usually nondescript areas into magical and intriguing places, giving them a new lease of life, and demonstrating the power of light.

The festival blurs boundaries between art, science and technology, showcasing the best of the new creative talent and technology. In 2018 Llum BCN celebrated its seventh year and boasted more than 42 different inmmersive projections. It has rapidly grown in size and popularity, and looks set to continue to do so. The exact dates and locations for the installations change from year to year, who knows what area will be illuminated next.

Gracias al talento de los artistas, un fin de semana aburrido en febrero se convierte en un finde lleno de instalaciones de luz inmersivas, innovadoras, experimentales y sensoriales. Una colaboración entre reconocidos artistas internacionales y el talento emergente de los estudiantes locales de arte y diseño, el festival Llum BCN llega con nuevas tecnologías para transformar la fisonomía de la ciudad. Los espacios más oscuros de Barcelona se convierten en espacios llenos de magia y encanto.
El festival explora nuevas estrategias del tratamiento de la luz y del espacio que difumina los límites entre arte, ciencia y tecnología. Parece que este festival va a seguir creciendo en tamaño y popularidad en el curso de los próximos años. En 2018 celebró su séptima edición y contó con más de 42 proyecciones inmersivas. Las fechas y ubicaciones exactas van cambiando cada año, ¿quién sabe cuál zona de Barcelona brillará en el futuro?
