MINGUS PROFILES SEXTET

The Mingus Profiles Sextet reworks pieces from the highly revered American jazz musician Charles Mingus’ songbook, paying tribute to the orchestral colour and spontaneity of his music. A rousing gig back in 2015 left Sheffield wanting more, so Mingus Profiles Sextet are bringing their uplifting, sophisticated jazz sound back to the Crucible Studio for another session to round off the Spring 2019 season of Sheffield Jazz.

YELLOW ARCH FUTURE JAZZ FESTIVAL

Celebrating the new wave of musicians pushing the boundaries of jazz, Yellow Arch has summoned an eclectic line-up of artists covering the genres of jazz, neo-soul, electronica, funk, hip-hop, jazz fusion and anything in between. The full day and night festival will feature art installations, two stages of music, cocktails, craft beers and tasty street food from Just Falafs in case you get peckish.

Bristol based electronic jazz outfit Ishmael Ensemble are sometimes few, sometimes many, but they always operate in a forward thinking-manner. Tiptoeing between jazz, club culture and left-field electronics, the group have found a truly unique and refreshing voice which has caught the attention of tastemakers and DJs across the board, including Giles Peterson, BBC6Music, Jazz FM and Worldwide FM. Catch them before they blow up on their first official UK tour.
